0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mangdu Rugas! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Leandro Rodrigues and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rugas throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Moura shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Moura showed some decent athleticism there. Moura is looking for a kimura here.
Moura is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Rugas is defending against the submission attempts here by Moura.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Moura working for a triangle but Rugas defends it easily.
Rugas content to stall in guard here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Thiago Moura will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Thiago Moura's cut. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Nice sprawl there from Rugas as Moura shoots in. Thiago Moura seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Moura fails with the takedown. Moura fails with a takedown attempt from distance. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Thiago Moura. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rugas fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Rugas lands a big head kick that sends Moura tumbling to the mat! Rugas takes a step backwards and waves Moura back to his feet - he wants the finish! Rugas stuffs the takedown. Rugas moves into the clinch. Rugas has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Moura uses from the top position. Rugas looking to hit a scissor sweep but Moura is one step ahead there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rugas is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Rugas drags the fight down to the ground.

Moura drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Rugas dives on top into guard. Rugas pushing down on Moura's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Moura is trying to escape back to his feet but Rugas uses the scramble to pass into side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Moura's face as Rugas controls the position. Rugas scores with a couple of short elbows. Rugas should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Rugas working the head with strikes.

Rugas looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Rugas has eaten all the pies! Moura misses with a takedown and Rugas counters with a head kick that drops Moura to the mat! Moura scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly! Horrible takedown by Moura or perhaps it was just good defense by Rugas which made him look bad. Rugas lands a jab-cross combination.

Moura is trying to drag Rugas to the mat but Rugas just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Rugas is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body. Moura stops a takedown attempt from Rugas.
Moura drops down looking for an ankle pick but Rugas pulls his leg out and moves away.

Jeez, Thiago Moura's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
