Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Servantes Raul!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vaan Patricks!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Seu Braga and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Patricks lands an overhand right.
Raul tries for a takedown but Patricks sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Patricks throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Raul sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Patricks pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Patricks cracks Raul with a good jab.
Patricks closes the distance and clinches up with Raul, looking for a takedown. Patricks pushes Raul against the ropes but Raul circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Raul looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Raul fails with a takedown attempt.
Raul looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Patricks is fending him off so far but Raul persists. Nope, Patricks circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Servantes Raul. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Patricks scores with a one two! Raul had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Patricks throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Patricks ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Raul moves away.
A chopping leg kick lands by Patricks.
Raul turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Patricks tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Patricks connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Patricks lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Patricks stuffs the takedown.
Raul checks a low kick from Patricks.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Patricks dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Raul. That did some damage!
Patricks fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Raul manages to avoid it.
Patricks fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Patricks throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Patricks scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Raul has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Raul there as he acknowledges the shot.
Patricks tries a head kick but it misses.
Patricks fails to land with a series of punches.
Patricks lands with a hook. Raul tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Raul shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Patricks as he jumps to the side.
Patricks displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Raul.
Raul is breathing heavily.
Raul misses with a takedown attempt - Patricks sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
A jab from Patricks does it's job there.
Patricks connects with a jab.
Raul moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Patricks circles away from the clinch attempt.
Raul slips a jab and a cross from Patricks.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Patricks misses with a body kick.
Patricks closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Patricks thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Patricks slows the pace down.
Patricks is working to tighten is grip on Raul's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Raul has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Patricks is really squeezing tight and eventually Raul passes out! Patricks breaks the hold and jumps onto the ropes to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Vaan Patricks!
