Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
15 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ryan Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 31 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Adam Saburo!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shirou Masuda and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie drives through with a takedown into guard.
Saburo controls Gracie momentarily but Gracie frees himself.
Saburo is working an open guard so Gracie takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Gracie shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Gracie was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Saburo wants to hold on but Gracie pushes him away.
Saburo is looking to improve his position but Gracie isn't that keen on the idea.
Gracie is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Saburo lands a jab-cross combination.
A decent looking cross lands there for Gracie.
It looks like Adam Saburo has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gracie keeps the fight on the outside.
Saburo gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Gracie counters with a left to the body.
Saburo looks gassed!
Gracie throws a series of strikes that have Saburo backpedaling.
Ryan Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gracie scores with a body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Gracie feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Saburo sprawling to the canvas! Saburo rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Gracie finish him?!
Saburo is rocked!
Saburo loses concentration momentarily and Gracie pounces with a three punch combo! Right, left, right! Saburo crashes face first to the mat, out cold! Gracie finishes this one with a fantastically precise combo! Great stuff.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:11 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Ryan Gracie!
