Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Zhelyazko Velilkov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Yuwill Submitt! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Nard Betker and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Velilkov changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Submitt looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Submitt is not content to let Velilkov control the position. Velilkov is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Submitt is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Velilkov working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Velilkov in side control, throwing shots but Submitt defends. Velilkov thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Submitt is looking to reverse the position. Velilkov throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Submitt is trying to improve his position. Submitt is not content to let Velilkov control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Velilkov is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Submitt knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Velilkov is trying to get an arm triangle but Submitt is defending well. You can see the frustration on Submitt's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Submitt regains half guard. Submitt keeping control of the position. Submitt is looking for a sweep. Velilkov is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Velilkov looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Submitt looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Velilkov is looking for a kimura here.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Velilkov is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Submitt has managed to free his arm - good work. Velilkov throws a strike but Submitt avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Submitt is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Velilkov defends well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Velilkov trying to control but Submitt is working from the bottom. Velilkov loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Submitt is looking to sinch up a triangle. Velilkov throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Submitt's body to avoid the submission. Submitt has instead reached around Velilkov's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Submitt arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
