Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul Cielo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rocky Thoma (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thoma has chosen eye of the tiger - surviour as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Paul Cielo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rocky Thoma! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Steve Erwin and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thoma looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Cielo is fending him off so far but Thoma persists. Nope, Cielo circles away and we're back to standing. Thoma shoots in for a takedown but Cielo shows good takedown defense. Cielo has taken the fight to the clinch.
Thoma tries to pull guard but Cielo holds him up against the cage and eventually Thoma drops back down to his feet.
Paul Cielo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rocky Thoma. Thoma manages to pull guard.
Cielo pushes down on Thoma's leg and manages to get into half guard. Cielo perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Cielo prevents Thoma from improving his position. Cielo content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cielo wants to control but Thoma is keeping him busy. Cielo trying to pass the guard but Thoma defending well. Well, if Cielo is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Cielo tries to stand but can't do so whilst Thoma controls his leg. Thoma flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Cielo is looking to stall here but Thoma recovers full guard. Thoma lands some strikes from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Cielo trying to control the position from guard on top but Thoma is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Thoma thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Thoma keeping moving, preventing Cielo from controlling successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Cielo slips nicely into half guard. Thoma punching from the bottom.
Thoma strikes from the bottom but Cielo passes into mount!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Cielo controlling the position easily from mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Paul Cielo dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Cielo shoots for a double leg takedown but Thoma sprawls well. He's pushed Cielo's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Thoma with a poor takedown and Cielo counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Cielo misses with a series of wild punches.
Cielo gets a takedown into half guard. Cielo performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Thoma trying to control from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Thoma is not content to let Cielo control the position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Paul Cielo. Cielo fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Cielo tries to clinch there but Thoma circles away.
Thoma with a lazy takedown attempt and Cielo holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Thoma drags the fight down to the ground.
Thoma tries to strike from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Thoma not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Thoma keeping full guard, as Cielo tries to pass. Cielo postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Thoma is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Cielo, into his guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Thoma is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Thoma's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Thoma trying to control the position from guard on top but Cielo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Rocky Thoma. Thoma tries for a takedown but Cielo circles away easily and Cielo counters with a nice double leg into guard. Paul Cielo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rocky Thoma. Cielo wants to control from the top but Thoma keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Thoma preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Cielo looking to pass the guard. Cielo keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Thoma's head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Paul Cielo dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Cielo drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Cielo has knee on belly and moves into mount. Cielo sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Thoma bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
That's one minute gone in the round. Thoma controlling from the top position. Cielo has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Thoma off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Cielo scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Cielo tries to stand but Thoma is controlling his head. Thoma should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cielo goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Thoma has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Cielo but great work by Thoma. Thoma takes a little break here. Cielo wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Cielo is looking for a sweep. Thoma has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Cielo! Cielo is in all sorts of trouble here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Thoma controlling from mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cielo tries to get back to half guard but can't. Thoma takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Cielo is working to get back to half guard.
Thoma controlling the pace for now. Thoma jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Cielo manages to avoid the submission attempt. Paul Cielo is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Cielo is trying to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Cielo is letting Thoma control him for a moment. Let's hope that Thoma has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Rocky Thoma. Thoma darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Thoma controlling the action here. Rocky Thoma has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Thoma blocks the strikes from Cielo.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Rocky Thoma. Well Cielo has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
