Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Roman Christos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scott Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Christos's entrance music is Hell's Ditch. A fine choice. Peterson has chosen Invasion of the Bodysnatcher as his entrance music. Roman Christos has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Roman Christos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Scott Peterson!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Bruno Hogan and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Christos instigates a clinch.
Christos has a couple of punches blocked by Peterson.
Peterson tries to circle away but Christos has him pinned against the ropes.

Christos is trying to trip Peterson. He has hold of a leg but Peterson is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Christos persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Peterson is trying to keep Christos in close.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Peterson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Christos advances position into side control!

Christos tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Christos has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Scott Peterson wasn't active enough on the ground.
Christos moves in looking to clinch but Peterson pushes him off.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Christos shoots in looking for a takedown. Peterson tries to sprawl out of it but Christos keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Peterson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Christos has a takedown stuffed.

That was a close round but I would say that Roman Christos will probably get the nod.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Peterson is stalling here. Christos is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Peterson seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Christos has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Christos is looking for a kimura but Peterson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Christos to get the leverage.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!

Peterson stuffs the takedown.
Peterson throws a shot from downtown. Christos moves away and avoids it.

Christos feints and as Peterson raises his hands in defense, Christos changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Christos has gone for a leg lock! Peterson slips out almost immediately though and dives into Christos's guard.

Peterson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Peterson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Christos keeps working.

Christos makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Christos.
Peterson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Christos decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Christos, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
