Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Patrick Marshall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Leary (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Leary has chosen Dangermouse as his entrance music. Mark Leary will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Patrick Marshall! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mark Leary! The judges for this bout are , and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Some wild striking there from Leary.
Marshall shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Marshall showed some decent athleticism there. Leary wants to control but Marshall is keeping busy and won't allow it. Leary is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Marshall is staying active. Marshall lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Leary is trying to get back to full guard. Leary moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Marshall throws a strike but Leary rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Leary drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Leary jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Leary thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Leary trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Marshall wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Leary is now in half guard. Marshall wants to control but Leary is keeping busy and won't allow it. Marshall knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Leary on the ground. Leary is looking to take a break and control but Marshall is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Marshall is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Leary jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Marshall pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Leary lands a head kick. Marshall smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Leary tries to score a power double leg takedown but Marshall sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Leary somewhat. Marshall with a poor takedown and Leary counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Marshall is trying to get back to full guard. Leary seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Marshall does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Leary is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Marshall is looking for a sweep. Leary is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Marshall on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Marshall tries to get out of the position. Leary wants to work for an arm triangle but Marshall is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Leary with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Leary is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Leary wants to lay and pray for a moment but Marshall keeps working.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Leary looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Leary is looking for a kimura here.
Leary trying to mount his opponent but Marshall defends it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mark Leary dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Marshall slaps away a takedown attempt from Leary, before circling back to the center of the mat. Marshall takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Leary looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Leary wants to control but Marshall is keeping him busy. Leary is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Marshall sees it coming and defends easily. Leary is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Marshall is trying to get back to full guard. Leary is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Leary is working for a kimura but Marshall is defending it quite comfortably.

Marshall holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Leary is figuring out what he wants to do next. Leary is pressing down on Marshall's thigh, looking to free his foot. Marshall is holding on for now. Marshall is staying active underneath Leary, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Leary tries to pass the half guard into mount. Marshall knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Leary is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Marshall! Leary trying to control but Marshall is having none of it. Leary with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Leary is working for a guillotine from mount but Marshall frees his head quite easily.

Marshall tries to improve his position but instead Leary has taken his back! Leary is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Marshall knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Marshall for a finish. Leary wants to control but Marshall is keeping busy. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mark Leary showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!
Marshall fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Leary checks it well. Leary connects with a high kick. Marshall pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Leary moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Marshall drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Marshall wants to pass the guard but Leary is keeping the position. Marshall scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Marshall throws a strike but Leary rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Leary looking to pass the guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Marshall not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Leary's corner is telling him to maintain position. Leary slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Marshall is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Leary is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Leary is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Marshall can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Leary controlling the pace for now. Patrick Marshall has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Marshall tries to lock up and control but Leary gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Leary is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Marshall can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Marshall is working to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Marshall is squirming around, avoiding Leary's attempts to control the action. Marshall is trying to reverse the position but instead Leary has taken his back - oops! Leary really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Marshall. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that's the end of the fight! Mark Leary comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Leary has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
