Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ken Zero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ronaldo Kikuchi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ronaldo Kikuchi will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ken Zero! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Ronaldo Kikuchi! The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yukihiro Shimada and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A head kick misses from Kikuchi. Kikuchi shoots in for a double leg but Zero sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Zero closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Zero is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kikuchi has escaped the position, nice work there. Kikuchi managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Zero.
Kikuchi gets back to half guard. Zero is looking to advance position but Kikuchi won't allow it. Zero has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Zero thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Zero is trying to work for a kimura but Kikuchi is defending well.
Zero thows a huge punch but Kikuchi dodges it nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zero throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Zero changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kikuchi tries to avoid it but Zero manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kikuchi to the ground. Kikuchi escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Zero keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Zero tries to clinch up but Kikuchi circles away and keeps his distance. Zero shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Zero wants to take a breather but Kikuchi is having none of it. Zero thows a huge punch but Kikuchi dodges it nicely.
Kikuchi is looking to improve his position.

Kikuchi is staying active underneath Zero, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Zero missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Kikuchi misses with a wild combination.

Zero looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kikuchi is fending him off so far but Zero persists. Nope, Kikuchi circles away and we're back to standing. Zero is breathing heavily. Zero scores with a takedown into Kikuchi's guard.

Kikuchi keeping moving, preventing Zero from controlling successfully. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Kikuchi looking to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Kikuchi keeping moving, preventing Zero from controlling successfully. Zero wants to pass the guard but Kikuchi is keeping the position. Zero throwing strikes from guard but Kikuchi blocks nicely.

Kikuchi with a lazy takedown attempt and Zero counters with a takedown into side control. Zero misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Zero decides to stand up, so the ref orders Kikuchi to his feet. Kikuchi keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Zero. Zero feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Zero prevents Kikuchi from getting back to his feet. Zero is looking to work some ground and pound but Kikuchi has wrist control.

Kikuchi will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Kikuchi throws a series of punches but Zero moves out of range. Zero fails with the takedown and Kikuchi counters with a stiff right hand. Kikuchi throws a head kick that Zero semi-blocks.

Kikuchi is looking to get to half guard. Kikuchi is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Zero pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Zero landing shots from mount. BOOM! Zero connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Zero cracks Kikuchi with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Kikuchi is bucking up trying to escape but Zero cracks him with another couple of good strikes. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Zero controlling from the full mount. Zero raining down shots from the mount! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ken Zero dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Zero keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Kikuchi takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

It looks like Ronaldo Kikuchi has been cut. Kikuchi shoots in looking for a takedown. Zero tries to sprawl out of it but Kikuchi keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Zero manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Zero gets a takedown into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kikuchi is not content to let Zero control the position. Zero sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Kikuchi defending well though. Ken Zero overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Zero looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kikuchi with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Zero sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Kikuchi defending well though. Kikuchi keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Kikuchi is looking to control Zero's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kikuchi avoid being mounted?
That's three minutes gone in the round. Zero content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Zero passes to full mount! Zero working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Zero is working for a guillotine from mount but Kikuchi frees his head quite easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Kikuchi is wriggling around trying to escape.
Ronaldo Kikuchi has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Zero postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Kikuchi looks a forlorn figure.
Zero lands a big shot there that rocks Kikuchi but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

And that's the end of the fight! Ken Zero showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Zero, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
