Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michael Balboa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Colt Hardin! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hardin takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Michael Balboa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Balboa throws a hook to the side of Hardin's head but Hardin sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Hardin throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Balboa on the side of the head.
It looks like Michael Balboa has been cut. Hardin swings for the body but Balboa moves out of range.
Balboa lands a nice shot to the body.
Balboa throws a right and a left that Hardin avoids nicely. Hardin moves into range and clinches up with Balboa. Hardin leaning his opponent against the cage. Balboa wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Hardin has clasped his hands together around Balboa's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Balboa is looking for a sweep. Balboa wants to get back to his feet but Hardin drags him back down. Hardin wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Balboa, who protects the arm well. Balboa on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Hardin tries for a kimura but Balboa is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hardin is looking to take a break and control but Balboa is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Hardin tries to clinch up but Balboa circles away and keeps his distance. Hardin moves out of range as Balboa strikes. This fight brought to you by 5M nutrition - it's mmmmm tasty. Nice jab by Balboa. Hardin moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Hardin is rocked! Hardin shoots in for a double leg but Balboa sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Hardin is still on wobbly legs! Can Balboa finish him? Hardin looks gassed!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Balboa drops Hardin with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Hardin! Balboa dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!
