Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cadogen Gruffudd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimi Hendrix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hendrix is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Machine Gun. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cadogen Gruffudd! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jimi Hendrix! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Damien Edna and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hendrix shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gruffudd's guard. Hendrix loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Hendrix is in close to Gruffudd's body, working some short punches and elbows. Hendrix trying to control the position from guard on top but Gruffudd is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Gruffudd working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Hendrix. Hendrix postures up in Gruffudd's guard and throws a big left but Gruffudd blocks it. Hendrix stands and throws Gruffudd's legs to the side, diving into side control. Hendrix looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hendrix grinds an elbow into Gruffudd's temple. Gruffudd knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hendrix on the ground. Hendrix tries for a kimura but Gruffudd is defending well. Gruffudd is not content to let Hendrix control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Gruffudd is looking for a sweep. Hendrix working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Hendrix working the head with strikes. Hendrix tries for a kimura but Gruffudd is defending well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gruffudd is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Hendrix is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Hendrix has hold of Gruffudd's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Gruffudd manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Hendrix moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Gruffudd has worked his arm free - good work by Gruffudd!
Hendrix looks gassed! Gruffudd is trying to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Hendrix is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gruffudd knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Hendrix goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Gruffudd rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Hendrix's guard! Nice work there by Gruffudd! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jimi Hendrix dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Hendrix tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gruffudd sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hendrix somewhat. Jimi Hendrix seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gruffudd with a lazy takedown attempt and Hendrix counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Hendrix. Hendrix tries to free his leg and advance position but Gruffudd is retaining full guard. Gruffudd being controlled here, momentarily. Hendrix has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Hendrix is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Gruffudd is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Gruffudd has escaped and now he's on top!
That's one minute gone in the round. Hendrix working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Gruffudd. Gruffudd distracts Hendrix with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Gruffudd throws a big right hand that misses. Gruffudd stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hendrix swivels though and keeps the full guard. Gruffudd connects with a couple of short punches. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Gruffudd throws a strike but Hendrix rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Hendrix looking to sit in guard and control but Gruffudd gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Hendrix is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gruffudd lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Gruffudd trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Gruffudd scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Hendrix is trying to keep Gruffudd in close.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Hendrix fails with the takedown and Gruffudd counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Gruffudd trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Hendrix is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Hendrix working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gruffudd doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gruffudd manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Gruffudd landing with the ground and pound. Jimi Hendrix has got the better of the ground game so far. Gruffudd landing some decent shots from guard. Gruffudd is in close to Hendrix's body, working some short punches and elbows. Hendrix is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hendrix in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Gruffudd tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Hendrix!
