PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Peter Line (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Donnie Holnick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Line comes to the cage accompanied by Human Cannonball. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Donnie Holnick!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Patrick Alders and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Line misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Holnick.
Holnick throws a right hand that Line ducks under and follows up with a left that Line also avoids with ease.
Line swings for the body but Holnick moves out of range.

Holnick drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Line is trying to get back to half guard.
Holnick is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Holnick wants to lay and pray for a moment but Line keeps working.
Line is looking to regain half guard here but Holnick keeps moving and retains side control.

Holnick tries to advance to mount but can't.

Line is looking for a sweep. Holnick is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Holnick thows a huge punch but Line dodges it nicely.

Line postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Holnick is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Line, into his guard.
Holnick is fighting to break Line's control of his arms but Line is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Holnick gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Line working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Holnick's thigh. Holnick counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Line wants to control from the top but Holnick keeps moving.

Line throws and elbow that misses. Holnick uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Line's guard. Nice move by Holnick!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Line controls Holnick momentarily but Holnick frees himself.
Holnick postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Holnick forces his way into half guard.
Line wants to improve his position but Holnick is controlling well.
Line tries to kick Holnick off but Holnick keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Holnick thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Line is looking to improve his position.
Line is trying to control but Holnick manages to pass to mount!
Line tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Donnie Holnick showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

so Line counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Line lands a couple of elbows.
Holnick preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Holnick wants to sweep but no luck.
Holnick being controlled here, momentarily.
Line advances to half guard.
Line is just content to waste time from the top position. Holnick takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Line working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Line wants to control from the top but Holnick keeps moving.

Line stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Holnick swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Line working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Line scoring with some ground and pound.
Line working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Holnick's head.
Peter Line overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Line wants to control from the top but Holnick keeps moving.
Line stays in close to Holnick's body and controls the position.
Line with a flurry of punches that miss.
Line trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
