Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ronnie Cordoza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nasir Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ronnie Cordoza! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nasir Jones! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Cordoza throws a hook to the side of Jones's head but Jones sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Cordoza walks into a left hand. Cordoza closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jones to the mat! Jones manages to get full guard. Cordoza with a nice head shot there. Jones trying to control the position.
Cordoza wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving. Cordoza postures up in Jones's guard and throws a big left but Jones blocks it. Cordoza throws a strike but Jones rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Jones wants to control from the top but Cordoza keeps moving. Cordoza throws a couple of heel strikes.
Jones working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Jones prevents Cordoza from getting back to his feet. Cordoza has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Jones passes Cordoza's left leg - he's now in half guard. Jones wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cordoza keeps working. Cordoza avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Jones. Cordoza moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Cordoza keeping full guard, as Jones tries to pass. Cordoza is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Cordoza throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Cordoza trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Cordoza looking to control.

Cordoza throws a looping overhand right but Jones ducks down to avoid it. Jones ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Jones!
Cordoza tries for a takedown but Jones sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Cordoza tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Jones was well out of range. Poor timing from Cordoza. Jones ducks under a wild hook from Cordoza. Cordoza throws a shot from downtown. Jones moves away and avoids it. Cordoza misses with a takedown attempt - Jones sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Cordoza dives in and grabs Jones's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jones pushes down on Cordoza's head and hops out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ronnie Cordoza. That's going to take a lot out of him. Cordoza is breathing heavily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cordoza fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Cordoza throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Cordoza changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jones tries to avoid it but Cordoza manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jones to the ground. Jones escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Jones walks into a left hand. Cordoza fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jones sprawls well initially but Cordoza persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Jones looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Jones controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Cordoza lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ronnie Cordoza dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Jones blocks a jab. Cordoza is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Cordoza throws a shot from downtown. Jones moves away and avoids it. Jones has managed to clinch.
Cordoza tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Jones turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Jones working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Cordoza wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cordoza throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land. Jones throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Cordoza tries to escape but Jones is in control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cordoza tries to strike from the bottom but misses. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jones working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Jones tries to move into full mount but can't pass Cordoza's legs. That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Cordoza throws some shots to the body, keeping his opponent honest.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Cordoza cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

That was a close second round but I would say that Ronnie Cordoza will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Cordoza is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Jones. Horrible takedown by Cordoza or perhaps it was just good defense by Jones which made him look bad. Cordoza throws a lazy right hand but Jones sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Jones takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Cordoza swings and misses with a shot to the body and Jones holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Cordoza is trying to break free. Cordoza tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Jones smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ronnie Cordoza. That's going to take a lot out of him. Jones steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Cordoza. Cordoza doesn't succeed with the takedown and Jones counters with a two punch combo. Cordoza throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Jones sees it coming and avoids it easily. Nasir Jones is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Cordoza with a lazy takedown attempt and Cordoza takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fighters circle momentarily. Cordoza darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Cordoza jabbing away but nothing is landing. Cordoza doesn't succeed with the takedown and Jones counters by moving into the clinch. Cordoza tries to pull guard but Jones won't allow it.
Jones wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Cordoza has him pressed against the cage. Jones tries to circle away but Cordoza has him pinned against the cage. Jones escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jones drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jones lands a few punches from side control. Jones tries to move into full mount but can't pass Cordoza's legs. Jones misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Ronnie Cordoza is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones working away. Cordoza is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Jones is controlling him well. Cordoza is trying to control Jones's posture but Jones avoids it. Jones is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Cordoza has escaped the position, nice work there. That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. You can see the frustration on Cordoza's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Ronnie Cordoza overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Cordoza is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Jones is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Jones is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Cordoza knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Cordoza gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Jones not landing any meaningful shots this time. Cordoza works his way to full guard. Good work. Nasir Jones has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Cordoza holds on and takes a little breather.
And that's the end of the fight! Nasir Jones comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Cordoza has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
