Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Wang Chi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bay Mai!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Ren Mimura and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chi wants to clinch up but Mai keeps it at a distance.
Chi fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Chi looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Chi misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Chi tries to clinch up.
Mai will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Chi scores with a takedown into Mai's guard.
Mai is striking off his back. Chi thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.
Mai tries to get to full guard but Chi has control of the leg.

Chi tries to clinch up but Mai circles away and keeps his distance.
Mai avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Chi.

Chi swats away the attempt to clinch by Mai.
Chi keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Mai's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Mai duly obliges.
Mai lands with a thumping leg kick.
Mai shoots for a double leg takedown but Chi sprawls well. He's pushed Mai's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Mai throws a combination. Chi tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Wang Chi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Chi tries for a takedown but Mai sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wang Chi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Chi gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Mai stands up from Chi's guard - Mai perhaps looking for a knockout.
Mai gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Chi closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Chi lands in his opponent's guard.

Mai is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Chi is controlling him.
Chi gets to his feet - Mai follows without any prompting.
Mai walks forward, straight into a front kick from Chi.
Chi gets a clinch.

Mai breaks from the clinch.
Chi wants to clinch but Mai slips to the side
and Mai counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Mai looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Chi is defending against the submission attempts here by Mai.
Mai uses his free foot to push down on Chi's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Chi.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Chi is trying to escape the mount but Mai keeps good control and instead manages to take Chi's back.
Mai tries to get the hooks in deep but Chi pushed the leg off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bay Mai dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Chi shoots in but Mai avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Mai moves out of range of the body kick from Chi.
Mai shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Chi but Chi pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Mai slips a straight right by Chi.
Chi tries to clinch but Mai is having none of it.
Chi shoots in but no luck this time.
Mai closes the distance and clinches up with Chi, looking for a takedown. Mai pushes Chi against the cage but Chi circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mai drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Chi gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Mai is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Chi is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
