Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between DJ Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eddie Rogers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, DJ Penn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Eddie Rogers!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Stewart Dunkirk and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A nice combination there by Rogers.
Penn shoots for a takedown but Rogers saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Rogers throws a head kick that misses.

Rogers clinches with his opponent.
Penn lands a nice shot to the body.

Rogers is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Penn can't fight it off and eventually Rogers manages to take the fight to the floor. Penn looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Rogers wants to control from the top but Penn keeps moving.
Penn will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Penn avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Rogers throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Penn wants to sweep here but Rogers controlling him for the moment.
Rogers thows a big elbow that misses.
Rogers missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Penn manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Rogers really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Penn. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Rogers tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Penn scoring with strikes but Rogers is staying in there.
Penn avoids the attempt from Rogers to control.
Penn has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Rogers's face.
Penn trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Rogers in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

Penn wants to take Rogers's back here but Rogers is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Penn controlling his opponent.
Penn putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Penn lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Penn landing strikes, looking to finish!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rogers defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Penn.
Rogers looks gassed!
Rogers tries to reverse the position but Penn maintains control.
Penn lands a big elbow.
Rogers looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Penn is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Rogers up.
Rogers grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.

Rogers is keeping busy.
Penn just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Penn scores with punches from the back.
Rogers is trapped and Penn is scoring with shots to the head and body.
Penn is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
Penn lands a shot to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Rogers stuffs the takedown.
Penn lands a head kick!
Penn really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Penn looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Penn misses with a body kick.

Penn has Rogers up against the cage in a clinch.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Penn takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Penn tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Rogers smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for DJ Penn. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rogers keeps the fight on the outside.
Penn shoots in for a takedown but Rogers shows good takedown defense.

Penn closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Rogers to the mat! Rogers manages to get full guard.

Penn decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Penn misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Rogers.

Rogers changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Penn fights it off and pushes away nicely.
DJ Penn is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Penn tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Penn shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Rogers defends it nicely.
Rogers rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Penn moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Rogers changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Penn looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Penn is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Rogers off and has taken his back!
Rogers looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.
Penn really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Rogers.

Rogers breaks Penn's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Penn looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Rogers throwing strikes but missing.
Penn wants to stand up but Rogers is controlling him.
Rogers trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Penn pushes Rogers off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Rogers misses with a few strikes there.
Rogers closes the distance and clinches up with Penn, looking for a takedown. Rogers pushes Penn against the cage but Penn circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Rogers throws a body punch but Penn moves out of range.
Penn shoots and misses
and Rogers counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Rogers tries to clinch up.
No joy there for Rogers, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Penn throws a series of punches but Rogers avoids them all with ease.

Penn gets the takedown into side control.

Penn wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Rogers, who protects the arm well.
Penn working away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

DJ Penn dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Penn looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rogers is fending him off so far but Penn persists. Nope, Rogers circles away and we're back to standing.

Penn gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Penn preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Penn has his hands on Rogers's head, controlling the position.
DJ Penn overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Penn not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Penn has momentary wrist control but Rogers slips an elbow through the middle.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Penn manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Rogers manages to get himself to full guard.

Penn stands up and waves to Rogers to follow him.

Penn closes the distance and clinches.
Rogers is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Penn is working for takedown but Rogers is calmly controlling the position for now.
Penn changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Rogers fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Rogers throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Penn.

Rogers is looking to slow Penn down with leg kicks.
Penn fails with the takedown.
Eddie Rogers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Penn is trying hard to land a takedown here. Rogers sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Penn thows a body shot but no joy.

Rogers changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Penn looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Rogers is chipping away with strikes.
Penn is working to avoid the ground and pound but Rogers connects with a decent elbow.
Penn manages to work his way to half guard, despite Rogers's best efforts.

Rogers postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Penn is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Rogers, into his guard.

Rogers tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Rogers is working an open guard so Penn takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Horrible takedown by Penn or perhaps it was just good defense by Rogers which made him look bad.
Penn shoots in for a takedown but Rogers shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Penn tries to clinch up but Rogers circles away and keeps his distance.
Penn doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Rogers counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Penn is trying to stand.
Eddie Rogers has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Rogers connects with a nice short shot to Penn's temple.

And that's the end of the fight!
Eddie Rogers comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Penn has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
