Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between MIKE CORTEZ (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marty Stevenson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). MIKE CORTEZ looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stevenson takes a kick to the side of the head.
It looks like Marty Stevenson has been cut.
A head kick misses from CORTEZ.
Stevenson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says CORTEZ as he avoids it easily.
CORTEZ scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
CORTEZ is looking to clinch.
Stevenson shoots in looking for a takedown. CORTEZ tries to sprawl out of it but Stevenson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. CORTEZ manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
CORTEZ stalks Stevenson and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Stevenson's face. Stevenson staggers backwards, shaken.
CORTEZ thumps Stevenson with a low kick.

Stevenson is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but CORTEZ is surviving well by controlling Stevenson's body position as best he can.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

and CORTEZ counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Stevenson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
CORTEZ takes a decent strike to the side of the head.
CORTEZ cracks Stevenson with a solid left hand.
Stevenson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Stevenson working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Stevenson is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and CORTEZ defends it well.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Stevenson goes for an armbar but he's not got it… CORTEZ turns into him and now he's in Stevenson's guard.

Stevenson is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Stevenson extends the arm and CORTEZ is forced to tap!
