Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ivan Horvat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dennis Markakis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ivan Horvat is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ivan Horvat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dennis Markakis!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Markakis tries to clinch there but Horvat circles away.
Nice sprawl there from Horvat as Markakis shoots in.

Markakis decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Markakis trying to control the pace.

Markakis decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Markakis is looking to clinch but Horvat is avoiding it.
Markakis fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Horvat.
Horvat is breathing heavily.
Markakis fails with an attempt to clinch.
Horvat misses with a takedown
and Markakis counters with a right hand to the body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Markakis drops Horvat with a beautiful combination! Horvat stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Markakis is looking for the KO!
Horvat on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Horvat shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Markakis as he jumps to the side.

Horvat closes this distance looking for a takedown but Markakis circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ivan Horvat. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Markakis doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Horvat decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Markakis's guard.
Horvat postures up.
Horvat looking to pass the guard.
Horvat trying to control but Markakis is working from the bottom.
Horvat is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Markakis is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Markakis keeping full guard, as Horvat tries to pass.

Horvat preventing the sweep.
Horvat seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Horvat seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Markakis for as long as he can get away with.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Markakis is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Horvat keeping moving, preventing Markakis from controlling successfully.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Markakis tries to stand but Horvat is controlling from the bottom.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Horvat shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Markakis as he avoids it easily.
Markakis shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Horvat decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Markakis's guard.

Horvat drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Horvat jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Markakis looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Markakis scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Markakis tries to clinch up but Horvat circles away and keeps his distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dennis Markakis dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Markakis takes the fight into the clinch.

Markakis has hold of one of Horvat's legs. Horvat is fighting the takedown attempt but Markakis gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Markakis wants to stand but Horvat has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Horvat has his foot on Markakis's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Markakis works his way back into a safe position though.
Markakis tries to stand but Horvat is controlling from the bottom.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Markakis passes Horvat's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Horvat is trying to maintain the position but Markakis is very close to passing his half guard.

Markakis tries to stand and escape but Horvat actually recovers to full guard.
Markakis forces his way into half guard.
Markakis passes the guard and advances to mount!
Markakis can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Horvat is looking to escape.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Markakis wants to control but Horvat has made it back to half guard. Nice work.
Horvat wants to control but Markakis is keeping busy.
Markakis looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Horvat trying to control but Markakis postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Markakis wants to free his trapped foot but Horvat is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Horvat wants to control but Markakis is keeping busy.
Markakis wants to stand up but Horvat is controlling the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Markakis throws a nice outside leg kick.
Nice jab there from Markakis.

Markakis changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Horvat looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Horvat struggling a bit here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Horvat sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Markakis wants to stand up but Horvat has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Horvat moves into full guard.
Markakis trying to control the position from guard on top but Horvat is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Markakis would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dennis Markakis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Horvat's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Markakis tries to close the distance and clinch but Horvat swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Markakis connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Horvat shoots and misses
and Markakis counters with a head kick that crumples his opponent - he's in a world of trouble! Markakis looks at the referee who does nothing so Markakis lands a crushing right that sends Horvat to the floor! This time the ref steps in to end the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:16 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dennis Markakis!
