Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Justin Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Takumi Sakoshita (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Justin Gracie has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Justin Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Takumi Sakoshita!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Gracie tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Sakoshita swivels and escapes.
Gracie shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Justin Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gracie throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sakoshita's waist but Sakoshita gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gracie off to one side.

Sakoshita gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Gracie to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Gracie drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gracie jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Sakoshita escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gracie gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Gracie is trying to get an arm triangle but Sakoshita is defending well.
Sakoshita is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Gracie asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Gracie is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Sakoshita knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gracie tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Sakoshita really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Sakoshita manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Sakoshita has one foot on Gracie's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Gracie misses with a takedown attempt - Sakoshita sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Justin Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Sakoshita feints and as Gracie raises his hands in defense, Sakoshita changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Sakoshita wants to stand but Gracie has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Gracie working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sakoshita doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sakoshita manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Sakoshita wanted to stand there but Gracie had control of the position.

Sakoshita decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Gracie gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Sakoshita counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gracie bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sakoshita's guard.

Sakoshita looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Gracie slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

A close round but Takumi Sakoshita will probably get the nod.

Gracie shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Gracie showed some decent athleticism there.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Gracie is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Sakoshita sees it coming and defends easily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Gracie is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Sakoshita defends it well.

Sakoshita is trying to stand up here but Gracie is controlling him well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gracie is working for a kimura but Sakoshita is defending it quite comfortably.
Sakoshita wants to get back to his feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Sakoshita won't allow Gracie to pass to mount.
Justin Gracie overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Gracie shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Sakoshita counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Gracie!
Sakoshita wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.
Sakoshita throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Gracie because Sakoshita loaded up on that one.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sakoshita tries to control but Gracie wriggling away.
Sakoshita thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Justin Gracie will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!



Excellent takedown into side control there by Sakoshita.

Sakoshita has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Sakoshita shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Gracie manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Sakoshita would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Gracie had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Sakoshita defends it easily.
Sakoshita wants to stand but Gracie has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Sakoshita looking to sit in guard and control but Gracie gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Gracie drops back looking for a leg! Sakoshita is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sakoshita manages to kick Gracie off! Gracie jumps back into Sakoshita's guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Gracie tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gracie has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Gracie is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Sakoshita knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Sakoshita wants to get back to his feet but Gracie drags him back down.

Gracie wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Sakoshita, who protects the arm well.

Gracie thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Sakoshita tries to improve position but can't.
Sakoshita is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Gracie is controlling him well.
Sakoshita is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Gracie off and has taken his back!

Sakoshita tightening his grip on Gracie, looking for the choke.
Gracie tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Justin Gracie.
I think Gracie has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
