Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between George StPierre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kuksa Pihamies (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kuksa Pihamies!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Anni Minnemäki and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pihamies cracks StPierre with a good jab.
StPierre walks into a left hand.
George StPierre seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pihamies shoots for a double leg takedown but StPierre sprawls well. He's pushed Pihamies's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

StPierre looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
StPierre moves nicely into side control.

StPierre is trying to get an arm triangle but Pihamies is defending well.
Pihamies is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
StPierre works to advance to full mount. Pihamies defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

StPierre is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Pihamies has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Pihamies!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Pihamies would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Pihamies is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

StPierre uses the cage to get back to his feet.

StPierre closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

StPierre working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

StPierre is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Pihamies knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
StPierre is breathing heavily.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
StPierre is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Pihamies has escaped the position, nice work there.
Pihamies wants to get back to his feet.

StPierre tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no StPierre has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

StPierre goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Pihamies has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for StPierre but great work by Pihamies.
Pihamies wants to stand but StPierre is controlling his arm.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pihamies tries to get to his feet but StPierre is in the middle of advancing position himself and ends up with Pihamies in his guard.
Pihamies has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of StPierre is proving hard to escape from.

Pihamies stands up from StPierre's guard - Pihamies perhaps looking for a knockout.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Pihamies throws a lazy right hand but StPierre sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
StPierre blocks the body kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

George StPierre dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



StPierre changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Pihamies looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pihamies is looking to work his way out of this bad position but StPierre is controlling him well.

StPierre is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Pihamies is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

StPierre is working to tighten is grip on Pihamies's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Pihamies has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but StPierre is really squeezing tight and eventually Pihamies passes out! StPierre breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
