PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kyle Moore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ken Slice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kyle Moore!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ken Slice!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Reed Andrews and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moore looks for a takedown but Slice sprawls well.
Moore tries for a takedown but Slice sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Moore moves in looking to clinch but Slice pushes him off.
Moore fails with an attempt to clinch.
Nice sprawl there from Slice as Moore shoots in.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kyle Moore. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Moore darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Moore tries to pass to full mount but Slice defends it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Slice is trying to get back to full guard.
Moore wants to take a breather but Slice is having none of it.
Slice really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Moore. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Slice has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Moore is working away from the top position though.

Slice is controlling Moore's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Moore tries to clinch up but Slice circles away and keeps his distance.
Slice misses with a takedown

and Moore counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Moore.
Moore trying to control the position from guard on top but Slice is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Slice is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Moore is controlling him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Moore wants to stand but Slice has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Moore is breathing heavily.
Slice trying to control the position.

Slice wants to sweep but no luck.

Moore wants to control from the top but Slice keeps moving.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Moore accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Slice can do anything to dispel that myth.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Nice takedown defense from Moore. No joy for Slice on that attempt.

Moore gets a takedown into half guard.
Slice is looking to escape.
Moore wants to free his trapped foot but Slice is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Moore thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Slice trying to hold on to Moore's head to control him but Moore postures up.
Moore will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Slice is trying to stand up here but Moore is controlling him well.

Moore is keen to just control but Slice is a slippery customer.
Slice wants to control but Moore is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Slice is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Slice pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A left and a right from Slice both land. Nice combination.


It looks like Kyle Moore has been cut.

Slice feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Moore working for a triangle but Slice defends it easily.
Moore wants to improve his position but instead Slice has moved into half guard.

Slice stands up out of the half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Moore avoids a kick to the body.
Moore doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Slice counters with a shoot takedown. Moore fights it but they end up in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Moore wants to get back to his feet but Slice is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Moore controls Slice momentarily but Slice frees himself.

Moore is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Slice stands up from Moore's guard - Slice perhaps looking for a knockout.
Slice scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Slice gets the takedown into side control.

Slice decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Slice takes the fight into the clinch.
Slice is trying to maintain a safe position but Moore gets an underhook and turns Slice into the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ken Slice dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Kyle Moore's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Moore looks for a takedown but Slice sprawls well.
Moore shoots in looking for a takedown. Slice tries to sprawl out of it but Moore keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Slice manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Moore closes the distance looking to clinch

and Slice counters with a single leg into guard. Moore didn't expect that.
Slice won't allow Moore to sweep him here.
Slice trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Slice tries to stand but Moore is controlling from the bottom.
Moore controls Slice momentarily but Slice frees himself.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Moore is on top in guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Slice looking to control.

Moore decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Slice, up you get!
No joy there for Slice, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Moore darts in and clinches Slice up against the cage.
Moore stalling the fight.
Moore misses with a knee to the head.
Moore tries to pull guard but Slice holds him up against the cage and eventually Moore drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kyle Moore. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Moore pulls Slice into guard.
Moore is looking to sweep but instead, Slice has passed into half guard.
Moore slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Slice is looking to stand up but Moore won't let him.
Slice trying to control but Moore is working from the bottom.

Moore has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Slice can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Slice looking to pass the guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Moore trying to keep a closed guard but Slice is proving a slippery customer.
Slice has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Moore is proving hard to escape from.
Moore trying to control the position.
Ken Slice has got the better of the ground game so far.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Horrible takedown by Slice or perhaps it was just good defense by Moore which made him look bad.
Slice misses with a two punch combination.
Slice circles away from the clinch attempt

and Slice counters by clinching up.

Slice has picked Moore up - he's going for a ride! Slice dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Moore makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Slice changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Moore looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Slice decides to stand back up. Slice steps back and let's Moore get back to his feet.
Slice misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Moore.

Slice decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Moore is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Slice's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Slice's back!

Moore working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Moore gets his hands free as Slice looks to control.
Slice looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.
Moore misses with punches from the back.
Moore gets his hands free as Slice looks to control.
Slice wants to get back to his feet.
Slice holding on to Moore's left wrist, preventing the choke.

Slice prevents Moore from getting a body triangle.
Moore not allowing Slice to control his hands.

Moore looking for the rear naked choke. And he's got it! Slice taps!
