10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Markus Bromley! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Felipe Paraventi and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice sprawl there from Bromley as Johnson shoots in. Johnson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Bromley but Bromley pushes him off and we're back to square one. Bromley stuffs the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dwayne Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Bromley keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Johnson shoots for a takedown but Bromley saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Johnson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Johnson shoots for a double leg takedown but Bromley sprawls well. He's pushed Johnson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Markus Bromley. Johnson has his takedown stuffed and Bromley counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Bromley in particular looking to stall. Johnson is looking to escape. Bromley looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Bromley sitting and controlling from the half guard. Johnson tries to kick Bromley off but Bromley keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Dwayne Johnson. Johnson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nice strikes from Johnson there. Bromley is not content to let Johnson control the position. Markus Bromley has got the better of the ground game so far. Bromley stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Johnson swivels though and keeps the full guard. Bromley slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Let's hope that Bromley has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
