Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between George Pieru (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nate Richardson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Richardson has chosen This Calling by All That Remains as his entrance music. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, George Pieru!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
15 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nate Richardson!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Stewart Dunkirk and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pieru shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Richardson but Richardson pushes him off and we're back to square one.
A solid leg kick lands there for Richardson.
Richardson connects with a solid leg kick.
Richardson stuffs the takedown attempt from Pieru. Pieru gets slowly back to his feet.
A telegraphed right hand from Pieru misses the target.
Pieru looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Richardson is fending him off so far but Pieru persists. Nope, Richardson circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for George Pieru. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Pieru takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Pieru is looking to clinch but Richardson is avoiding it.

Richardson tries to score with a low kick but Pieru moves his leg out of the way.
Pieru chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Richardson can pounce on him.
Richardson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Pieru tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Richardson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Richardson closes the distance and lands a one-two.
It looks like George Pieru has been cut.
Nate Richardson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Pieru is rocked!
Pieru shoots in for a double leg but Richardson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Pieru closes the distance and clinches up with Richardson, looking for a takedown. Pieru pushes Richardson against the cage but Richardson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Pieru is breathing heavily.
Pieru gets a takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Richardson is looking to control Pieru's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Richardson avoid being mounted?
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Richardson moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Richardson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pieru is one step ahead there.
Richardson is trying to control the position but Pieru postures up.
Pieru throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Richardson works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Richardson is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Nate Richardson hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Pieru tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Pieru tries to clinch there but Richardson circles away.
Richardson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Pieru.
Richardson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Pieru.
Pieru fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Pieru throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
George Pieru seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pieru shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Richardson pinned against the cage. Richardson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Pieru.

Richardson is trying to control Pieru's posture but Pieru avoids it.
Richardson gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Pieru prevents Richardson from standing back up.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Richardson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Richardson is positioning himself well to prevent Pieru advancing to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nate Richardson dominated that round.
The cut man is working on George Pieru's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Richardson lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Pieru has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Pieru and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Pieru shoots in looking for a takedown. Richardson tries to sprawl out of it but Pieru keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Richardson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Richardson will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Pieru tries to clinch there but Richardson circles away.
Pieru fails to land the takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Richardson keeps the fight on the outside.
Richardson fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Pieru is out of range.
Pieru shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Pieru was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Richardson wants to hold on but Pieru pushes him away.
Richardson might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Pieru kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Pieru breaks from Richardson's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Pieru has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Richardson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Richardson really wants to buck Pieru off and get back to his feet.
Pieru throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Richardson because Pieru loaded up on that one.
Pieru lands with some strikes.
Pieru is landing with some decent strikes but Richardson is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Pieru scoring with strikes but Richardson is staying in there.
Richardson tries to hold on but Pieru postures up.

Pieru looking to finish Richardson with some ground and pound. This is bad for Richardson!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pieru with shots to the head and body - Richardson looks very uncomfortable down there.

George Pieru overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
