PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Plude (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Burns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burns has chosen Psycho Killer- Talking Heads as his entrance music. Peter Burns will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Peter Burns!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, William Peck and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Plude tries to close the distance and clinch up but Burns swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Plude takes a swing at Burns's ribcage but misses.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Plude connects with a nice short shot to Burns's temple.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Burns wants to improve his position but Plude is controlling well.

Burns shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Plude but Plude pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Daniel Plude has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peter Burns.

Plude has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Burns uses from the top position.
Daniel Plude overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Burns has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Plude is proving hard to escape from.

Peter Burns showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Plude changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Burns looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Burns is still in real trouble! Can Plude finish him?

Plude has an Americana. Burns didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Plude is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Plude hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
