Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Cooper! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stan Engrle! The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Eddie Farnsworth and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Engrle tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cooper swats him away and circles back towards the center. Engrle throws a right hand that Cooper ducks under and follows up with a left that Cooper also avoids with ease. Engrle has managed to clinch.
Cooper has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Engrle uses from the top position. Cooper is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Cooper keeping moving, preventing Engrle from controlling successfully. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Engrle not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Cooper is pulling down on Engrle's head to control his posture.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Stan Engrle was stalling too much, according to the referee. The fight stays on the outside here - Engrle looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Cooper avoids the head kick by Engrle.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Engrle wants to clinch. Engrle misses with a wild combination.
Engrle tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Engrle tries to clinch but Cooper is having none of it. Stan Engrle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Engrle throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Engrle tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. A slow jab from Engrle misses its intended target. Cooper lands with a nice body punch. Engrle is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Engrle tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Cooper paws at him with a jab and circles away. No joy there for Engrle, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Engrle stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Engrle wants it to stay on the feet. Engrle throws a right hand that Cooper ducks under and follows up with a left that Cooper also avoids with ease. Engrle pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Engrle tries to sprawl but Cooper drives through with a takedown into half guard. Cooper is working for a submission of some sort.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cooper is trying to control the action in half guard but Engrle is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Engrle really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cooper. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Cooper looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Jack Cooper dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Cooper uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Engrle. Cooper slips a straight right by Engrle. Nice sprawl there from Engrle as Cooper shoots in. Engrle tries to bum rush Cooper with a series of wild strikes but Cooper uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Cooper circles away from the clinch attempt.
Engrle misses the shot to the body. Engrle is looking to clinch but Cooper is avoiding it.

That's one minute gone in the round. Cooper tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Engrle swivels and escapes. Engrle will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Engrle tries to close the distance and clinch but Cooper swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Cooper feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Engrle keeping moving, preventing Cooper from controlling successfully. Cooper lands a couple of elbows. Engrle wants to hit a switch here but Cooper passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Engrle there! Engrle tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cooper looking for a guillotine from mount but Engrle is having none of it. Engrle defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Cooper. Engrle tries to reverse the position but Cooper maintains control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cooper sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Engrle wants to control but Cooper is having none of it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Cooper unloads with some shots from mount but Engrle bucks and avoids them well.

Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Engrle is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jack Cooper dominated that second round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Cooper closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cooper content to control rather than advance. Cooper is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Engrle sees it coming and defends easily. Cooper stalling. The fighters are battling for position here. Engrle manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Engrle manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Cooper manages to get himself to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Engrle looking to sit in guard and control but Cooper gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Engrle trying to control the position.
Jack Cooper is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Cooper controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Engrle looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
And that's the end of the fight! Jack Cooper showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cooper, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
