Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Ross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Mezza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ross comes to the cage accompanied by Sympathy For The Devil. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Ross! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steve Mezza! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Dillan Fox and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ross misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Ross throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mezza's waist but Mezza gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ross off to one side. Ross tries to clinch up but Mezza circles away and keeps his distance. Mezza lands a nice shot to the body.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Ross. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Ross. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mezza lands a jab to Ross's midsection. Mezza wants to clinch and Ross counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Ross. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Ross trying to control the position from guard on top but Mezza is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Mezza wants to get back to his feet but Ross is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Mezza trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
That's one minute gone in the round. Mezza is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Mezza is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Mezza trying to keep a closed guard but Ross is proving a slippery customer.
Mezza keeping moving, preventing Ross from controlling successfully. Ross will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Ross tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Ross tries to move into range but Mezza moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Mezza looks to land a combination. Ross sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Ross is rocked! Ross tries for a takedown but Mezza sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Oh Ross is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Mezza fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Ross, pushing him back against the cage. Mezza lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Mezza wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Ross misses with a head kick.
Ross seems to have got his legs back now. Ross tries for a takedown but Mezza sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Ross is breathing heavily. A slapping leg kick lands for Mezza.
Mezza shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Mezza decides to return to a standing position. Ross closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Ross tries to get back to half guard but can't. Mezza throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Mezza trying to control but he's not successful this time. Ross throwing hammer fists to the chest of Mezza. What's that going to do exactly? Ross tries to get back to half guard but can't. That's four minutes gone in the round. Mezza avoids the attempt from Ross to control. Mezza lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Ross wants to hold on but Mezza pushes him away. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Mezza unloads with some shots from mount but Ross bucks and avoids them well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Mezza jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Ross is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Ross and Mezza has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Steve Mezza dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Nice defenses there by Ross. Ross changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mezza tries to avoid it but Ross manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mezza to the ground. Mezza escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Mezza tries to clinch but fails miserably and Ross counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Ross. Mezza is fighting off a takedown attempt but Ross is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Mezza to the mat. Mezza regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Mezza is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Ross sitting in guard, not really doing much. Mezza looking for a sweep. Not yet Mezza, not yet. Ross with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Mezza connects with a single shot there. Ross misses with a takedown and Mezza counters with a nice uppercut. Mezza tries to clinch up and Ross counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Ross controls from within his opponent's guard. Mezza is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Mezza jabs Ross right on the nose. Ross blinks but takes it well. Mezza wants to clinch so Ross counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Mezza wants to break free but Ross has control.
Ross drops down looking for an ankle pick but Mezza pulls his leg out and moves away.
Mezza throws a right and a left that Ross avoids nicely. Mezza lands with a right hand. Mezza misses with a jab, cross combination.
Ross drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Mezza trying to control the position.
Mezza bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ross's guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mezza accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Ross keeping moving, preventing Mezza from controlling successfully.
And that's the end of the fight! James Ross showed his dominance in that final round. I think Ross has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
