Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Ross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Mezza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ross comes to the cage accompanied by Sympathy For The Devil. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ross misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Ross throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mezza's waist but Mezza gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ross off to one side.
Ross tries to clinch up but Mezza circles away and keeps his distance.
Mezza lands a nice shot to the body.

Oh Ross is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Mezza fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Ross, pushing him back against the cage.

A short body shot lands from Mezza as the two fighters clinch.
Mezza breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Mezza jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Ross is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Ross and Mezza has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Nice defenses there by Ross.
Ross changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mezza tries to avoid it but Ross manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mezza to the ground. Mezza escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Mezza is fighting off a takedown attempt but Ross is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Mezza to the mat. Mezza regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Ross shoots in looking for a takedown. Mezza tries to sprawl out of it but Ross keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mezza manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Horrible takedown by Ross or perhaps it was just good defense by Mezza which made him look bad.

Ross drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
