The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Volkert moves out of range as Hurt strikes.
Volkert scores with a one two! Hurt had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Hurt drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Volkert wants to control but Hurt passes easily into half guard.
Hurt slows the pace down in half guard.
Hurt blocks the strikes from Volkert.
Hurt wants to pass to mount but Volkert is defending the position.

Volkert pushes Hurt off looking to stand but Hurt dives back in and keeps control.

Hurt changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Volkert looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Hurt misses with the ground and pound.
Volkert sneaks out the side door and pushes Hurt away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Hurt is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Volkert's half guard.
Hurt is breathing heavily.
Volkert trying to hold on to Hurt's head to control him but Hurt postures up.

and Hurt counters with a shoot takedown. Volkert fights it but they end up in guard.

Hurt has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Volkert wants to stand but Hurt has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hurt looking for submissions off his back.
Hurt is not content to let Volkert control the position.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Hurt swats away the attempt to clinch by Volkert.
Volkert looks for the body kick but Hurt saw that one coming.

Volkert throws a strike but Hurt manages to get a kimura sweep and he's found himself on top with the kimura half locked in! This would be a real turnaround! He's torquing it... Will Volkert tap??? YES! He's tapped! This one is all over!
