Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Kerma Pekoni! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pyro Mancer! The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Ben Zyskovitsi and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pekoni throws a nice looking combination but Mancer bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Mancer stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mancer wants it to stay on the feet. A head kick misses from Mancer. Mancer throws a hook to the side of Pekoni's head but Pekoni sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Mancer thuds his right hand into Pekoni's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Mancer throws a nice outside leg kick. Pekoni checks a low kick from Mancer. Mancer dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Pekoni. That did some damage! No luck for Pekoni with that takedown attempt. A low kick from Pekoni is predictable there and Mancer counters with a leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mancer stuffs the takedown attempt from Pekoni. Pekoni gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kerma Pekoni. That's going to take a lot out of him. Pekoni fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Pekoni blocks a head kick by Mancer.
Mancer has Pekoni up against the cage in a clinch.
Mancer is leaning against Pekoni and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. A right hand to the body from Mancer.
Pekoni has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Mancer is trying to keep an underhook but Pekoni manages to get the takedown into half guard. Mancer wants to get back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mancer gets full guard. Pekoni drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Mancer dives on top into guard. Pekoni is breathing heavily. Pekoni working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Mancer has passed into half guard!
Well, if Mancer is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pekoni looking for submissions off his back. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Mancer in particular looking to stall. Mancer is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Pekoni wants to control but Mancer is keeping busy and won't allow it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Mancer performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Pekoni wants to improve his position but Mancer is controlling well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Pyro Mancer dominated that round. That's time! Pekoni's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
No luck for Pekoni with that takedown attempt. Pekoni chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Mancer can pounce on him.
Mancer scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Mancer fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Pekoni. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Mancer scores with a slapping inside leg kick. This has been an exciting period of action! Mancer buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Mancer fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
That's one minute gone in the round. A nice leg kick lands there from Mancer. Mancer feints and then cracks Pekoni's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Pekoni down. Mancer lands a nice shot that snaps Pekoni's head back.
Mancer tries to clinch but Pekoni moves out of range. Pekoni is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. Mancer comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Mancer throws a front kick that sends Pekoni stumbling back into the cage. Mancer cracks the inside of Pekoni's front leg. Mancer has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A solid leg kick lands there for Mancer.
Pyro Mancer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pekoni stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Mancer. Mancer lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Pekoni throws a hook to the side of Mancer's head but Mancer sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Mancer lands a big head kick that sends Pekoni tumbling to the mat! Mancer takes a step backwards and waves Pekoni back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Pekoni is rocked! Pyro Mancer seems to be getting the better of the standup. Pekoni chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Mancer can pounce on him.
Oh Pekoni is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Pekoni takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Pekoni seems to have got his legs back now. Mancer throws a front kick that sends Pekoni stumbling back into the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pekoni walks into a stiff left hand from Mancer. Mancer scores with a head kick.
Mancer with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Pekoni takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Mancer lands a body shot.
A good leg kick by Mancer. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Mancer turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Mancer is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mancer chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Mancer fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Nice body kick there by Mancer. Mancer is looking to slow Pekoni down with leg kicks. Mancer lands with a nice combination. Pekoni backs away looking to recover. Mancer is looking to slow Pekoni down with leg kicks. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Mancer circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Pekoni drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Mancer follows Pekoni to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!
