Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack Raiden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kazushi Rakusaba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rakusaba has chosen David Bowie - Suffragette City as his entrance music. Kazushi Rakusaba told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jack Raiden! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kazushi Rakusaba! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rakusaba scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Rakusaba tries to advance to mount but Raiden denies him. Rakusaba is looking to take a break and control but Raiden is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Rakusaba working the ground and pound. Rakusaba trying to control the action but Raiden is working from the bottom. Raiden tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Rakusaba wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rakusaba taking a break here but Raiden is having none of it and regains half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Raiden is staying active underneath Rakusaba, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Raiden avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Rakusaba. Rakusaba not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Rakusaba trying to control but Raiden is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Raiden utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Rakusaba content to stall in guard here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Rakusaba thows a big elbow that misses. Rakusaba is in close to Raiden's body, working some short punches and elbows. Rakusaba postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Raiden is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Rakusaba, into his guard. Raiden has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Rakusaba keeping moving, preventing Raiden from controlling successfully. Raiden stopping the sweep attempt from Rakusaba. Raiden trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rakusaba escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Raiden gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Rakusaba looking to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Rakusaba throws his legs up looking for a submission but Raiden uses it to pass to side control.
Raiden tries to stand but Rakusaba is controlling his head. Rakusaba sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Raiden trying to control from half guard but Rakusaba is working away. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Rakusaba wants to get back to full guard. Rakusaba slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kazushi Rakusaba dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Rakusaba closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Raiden did well to prevent Rakusaba getting side control. Rakusaba stalling away here and it's allowed Raiden to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Raiden preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Raiden working for a triangle but Rakusaba defends it easily.

That's one minute gone in the round. Raiden looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Rakusaba loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Rakusaba forces his way into half guard. Raiden keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Rakusaba wants to take a breather but Raiden is having none of it. Rakusaba throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Rakusaba trying to mount his opponent but Raiden defends it. Rakusaba thows a huge punch but Raiden dodges it nicely.
Raiden is trying to get back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Rakusaba not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Rakusaba has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Rakusaba is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Raiden as he works his way to full guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rakusaba accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Raiden is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Rakusaba trying to control from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Rakusaba tries to roll over but Raiden keeps him under control. Rakusaba looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Rakusaba is breathing heavily. Rakusaba is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Rakusaba trying to control but Raiden postures up.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Rakusaba trying to hold on to Raiden's head to control him but Raiden postures up.

Kazushi Rakusaba showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Rakusaba fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Raiden looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Rakusaba closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. The ground and pound from Rakusaba seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Raiden struggling a bit here. Rakusaba taking a breather here. Raiden is trying to get back to half guard. Raiden is trying to get back to his feet. Rakusaba working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
That's one minute gone in the round. Raiden is looking for a sweep. Rakusaba controlling from side mount. Rakusaba lands a nice forearm strike. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Rakusaba trying to control the action but Raiden is working from the bottom. Rakusaba working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Raiden is trying to escape and Rakusaba transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Raiden is forced to tap! Nice work there by Rakusaba! Very nice indeed!
