PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jon The Blanket (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christopher Wayne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wayne is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Last of my kind. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jon The Blanket!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Christopher Wayne!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, George Francis and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The Blanket misses with a takedown attempt - Wayne sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

The Blanket scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Wayne is looking to escape.
Wayne is trying to defend against the ground and pound but The Blanket scores with a couple of nice shots.
Wayne is trying to stand back up but The Blanket is controlling him
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The Blanket is looking to advance position but Wayne won't allow it.

Wayne tries to kick The Blanket off in order to stand up. The Blanket Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
The Blanket lands a few punches from side control.
The Blanket working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
The Blanket is putting a hurting on Wayne here, landing some big shots from side control.
The Blanket cracks Wayne with a big elbow.
Wayne is not content to let The Blanket control the position.
Wayne is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, The Blanket asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Wayne tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Wayne looks gassed!

The Blanket cracks Wayne with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Wayne from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.
The Blanket lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Wayne.

The Blanket looking for the choke but no joy.
Wayne has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.

The Blanket is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Wayne has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
The referee is taking a good look at Wayne as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from The Blanket!

The Blanket lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Wayne hold on?!
The Blanket scores with punches from the back.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The Blanket throwing damaging strikes from the back! Wayne could be in trouble here!

Wayne manages to escape to his feet.
Wayne throws a series of punches but The Blanket moves out of range.
Nice takedown defense from The Blanket. No joy for Wayne on that attempt.

The Blanket closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The Blanket seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.


Wayne is rocked!

The Blanket wants to work for an arm triangle but Wayne is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. The Blanket connects with a nice short shot to Wayne's temple.
Wayne is in trouble now - The Blanket has advanced to mount!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wayne takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Wayne is still in real trouble! Can The Blanket finish him?
Wayne squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Wayne seems to have recovered his senses.
The Blanket is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Wayne can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

The Blanket looking for a guillotine from mount but Wayne is having none of it.

The Blanket lands with some strikes.
The Blanket lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Wayne is trying to stand up.
Wayne taking shots to the head.
The Blanket loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Wayne scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from The Blanket land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. The Blanket stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jon The Blanket!
