Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Matt Machado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Ervin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ervin has chosen 3 Seconds to Freedom by Pop Evil as his entrance music. Matt Machado has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matt Machado!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Marcus Ervin!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Dillan Fox and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ervin avoids the head kick by Machado.
Ervin shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Machado as he avoids it easily.
Ervin on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Ervin slips a straight right by Machado.
Ervin shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Machado pinned against the cage. Machado gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Ervin!
Ervin shoots in but Machado avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Matt Machado has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcus Ervin.
Ervin shoots in for a takedown but Machado shows good takedown defense.
Ervin shoots for a double leg takedown but Machado sprawls well. He's pushed Ervin's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Machado throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ervin stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Ervin swats away the attempt to clinch by Machado.
Machado thows a body shot but no joy.
Ervin avoids the head kick by Machado.
Machado tries to work over Ervin's front leg with a kick but Ervin checks it.
Machado swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Machado throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Machado fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ervin manages to avoid it.
Ervin fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Machado throws a sloppy head kick and Ervin moves out of range easily.
Machado throws a nice outside leg kick.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Machado fails with the takedown.
Ervin moves in looking to clinch but Machado pushes him off.

and Machado finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Ervin looks for a takedown but Machado sprawls well.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Ervin.
Ervin keeps the fight on the outside.
Ervin shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Machado as he avoids it easily.
Ervin shoots and misses
and Machado counters with a low kick, right behind Ervin 's knee.
Ervin shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Machado counters with a head kick.
Ervin is rocked!

Machado closes this distance looking for a takedown but Ervin circles away.
Ervin shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ervin showed some decent athleticism there.

Machado wants to improve his position but Ervin is controlling well.
Machado is refusing to be controlled, as Ervin sits in half guard.
Ervin is looking for a kimura here.
Ervin passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Machado!

Ervin is working for a guillotine from mount but Machado frees his head quite easily.
Ervin fails to take his opponent's back.
Ervin goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Machado turns into him and now he's in Ervin's guard.
Ervin is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Matt Machado dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Machado tries a head kick but it misses.
Machado fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Ervin checks it well.
Ervin doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Machado counters with a two punch combo.
Ervin is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Ervin shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ervin showed some decent athleticism there.
Ervin is thwarting Machado's attempts to control the position.
Ervin is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Machado defends it well.

Ervin is taking a breather. Machado says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Machado keeping control of the position.

Ervin seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Machado has recovered full guard.
Ervin trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Machado is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Machado looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Ervin pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Machado is keeping the position for now.
Machado is trying to keep Ervin in close.
Machado has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Ervin doesn't defend quickly enough and Machado has managed to lock this one up! Can Ervin escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Machado on a fantastic submission victory.
