5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vinicius Magalhaes! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Reed Andrews and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Oliveira avoids the head kick by Magalhaes.
Nice takedown defense from Oliveira. No joy for Magalhaes on that attempt. Oliveira decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Magalhaes looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Oliveira missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Oliveira shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Magalhaes napping and manages to drive through into side control!

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Oliveira is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Oliveira moves out of range as Magalhaes strikes. Magalhaes doesn't succeed with the takedown and Oliveira counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Magalhaes! Magalhaes tries to hold on but Oliveira postures up. Magalhaes is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Magalhaes manages to regain half guard. Good work. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Magalhaes is looking to control Oliveira's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Magalhaes avoid being mounted? Magalhaes looking for submissions off his back.
