Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ryu Hoshi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergey Burcev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ryu Hoshi has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ryu Hoshi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sergey Burcev!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Vladimir Khabensky and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burcev wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Some wild striking there from Burcev.
Hoshi misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Burcev chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Hoshi can pounce on him.
Hoshi throws out a powerful jab.
Hoshi scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Hoshi uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Burcev.

Hoshi shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Burcev has hold of Hoshi's hands but Hoshi slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Burcev keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Burcev is trying to maintain the position but Hoshi is very close to passing his half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Burcev can do anything to dispel that myth.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

No joy there for Burcev, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Burcev throws a lazy right hand but Hoshi sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

It looks like Ryu Hoshi has been cut.
Burcev will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Sergey Burcev seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Hoshi got a little sloppy there for a moment and Burcev has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hoshi has managed to get both his arms back between Burcev's legs - danger averted.
Hoshi passes Burcev's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Burcev is refusing to be controlled, as Hoshi sits in half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ryu Hoshi showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hoshi, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
