Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ian McIanson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Max Smith struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 136.9lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Max Smith! The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Dmitry Maklakov and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith tries to clinch up but McIanson circles away and keeps his distance. Smith closes the distance and clinches up with McIanson, looking for a takedown. Smith pushes McIanson against the cage but McIanson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Smith closes this distance looking for a takedown but McIanson circles away. Smith throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Smith fails with the takedown. Ian McIanson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Max Smith. Smith finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
No luck for Smith with that takedown attempt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McIanson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Smith sprawls well initially but McIanson persists and gets the takedown into half guard. McIanson content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. McIanson is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! McIanson working Smith over with strikes here. McIanson looking to control and managing it successfully. McIanson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McIanson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Smith for as long as he can get away with. You get the feeling that Smith really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Smith looks gassed! McIanson controlling the pace for now.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Ian McIanson just wasn't active enough. McIanson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Smith is trying to defend but McIanson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. McIanson trying to control the pace.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McIanson works his foot free and advances to mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ian McIanson dominated that round. That's time! McIanson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
McIanson scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. McIanson is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Smith will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. McIanson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Smith is breathing heavily.

McIanson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Smith wants to improve his position but instead McIanson has moved into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with McIanson in particular looking to stall. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Ian McIanson. McIanson clinches up against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McIanson has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Smith clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! McIanson keeps control of the position easily here as Smith tries to buck him off.

McIanson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Smith to the mat! Smith manages to get full guard. McIanson controls from within his opponent's guard. McIanson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Smith takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith is being controlled here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ian McIanson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. McIanson works to advance to full mount. Smith defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. McIanson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
And that's the end of the fight! Ian McIanson showed his dominance in that final round. Well McIanson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
