Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Riley Charles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rolif Cheperov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Charles comes to the cage accompanied by The Downfall Of Us All. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rolif Cheperov!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Tarja Halkonen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cheperov tries to clinch but Charles moves out of range.

Cheperov is looking to clinch but Charles is avoiding it.
The fight stays on the outside here - Cheperov looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Charles manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Charles accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Charles slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Riley Charles.
Cheperov tries to close the distance and clinch up but Charles swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Cheperov is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Cheperov wants to clinch up but Charles keeps it at a distance.

Charles avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Charles feints and as Cheperov raises his hands in defense, Charles changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Charles controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Charles stops Cheperov from standing up.

Charles slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Cheperov is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Charles drops back looking for a leg! Cheperov is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Cheperov manages to kick Charles off! Charles jumps back into Cheperov's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Cheperov doesn't manage to clinch there - Charles circles away.

so Charles counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Cheperov can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Charles controls the pace.

Charles decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Cheperov, up you get!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Cheperov wants to clinch but Charles slips to the side

and Charles decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Cheperov's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Charles looking to sit in guard and control but Cheperov gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Cheperov must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Charles throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Cheperov closes the distance looking to clinch

and Charles counters with a takedown into side control.

Charles is trying to get an arm triangle but Cheperov is defending well.
Charles trying to control the position but Cheperov is working away.

Cheperov is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Charles is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Cheperov knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Charles wants to control but Cheperov is keeping him busy.

Cheperov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Charles. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Charles is trying to control. Cheperov wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Charles is trying to work for a kimura but Cheperov is defending well.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Charles here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Cheperov moves in looking to clinch but Charles pushes him off.

Rolif Cheperov has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Riley Charles is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Cheperov stands up over Charles, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Riley Charles showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Charles, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
