Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Benoit Kong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karl Mathers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mathers comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Buck cherry kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Benoit Kong! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Karl Mathers! The judges for this bout are William Gold, Paul Tew and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mathers takes a body punch but keeps moving. Mathers waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Kong. A jab lands there for Mathers.
It looks like Benoit Kong has been cut. A telegraphed right hand from Mathers misses the target. Mathers throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Mathers throws a sloppy body shot
and Kong cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Mathers misses with a hook. Mathers missing with a left hand there. Kong was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Kong takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Mathers misses with a wild combination.
Mathers throws a combination that misses and Kong counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Mathers dips to his left and cracks Kong with an uppercut! Kong looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

and Kong counters with a straight right hand. A decent looking cross lands there for Kong. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Mathers connects with a good right hand that stumbles Kong. Kong circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Some wild striking there from Mathers.
Kong throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Mathers tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Kong is in Mathers's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kong is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Mathers controls Kong momentarily but Kong frees himself. Kong content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Kong is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Mathers is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mathers is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Kong will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Mathers looks gassed! Kong is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Kong drops back looking for a leg! Mathers is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mathers manages to kick Kong off! Kong jumps back into Mathers's guard. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Kong trying to control but Mathers is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kong postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Kong wants to control from the top but Mathers keeps moving. Kong seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Kong wants to control from the top but Mathers keeps moving. Kong misses with some ground and pound and Mathers recovers position to half guard. Kong is thwarting Mathers's attempts to control the position. Kong is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mathers defends it well. Mathers actively working from the bottom here. Mathers gets full guard. Mathers not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Mathers is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kong is aware though and is defending well. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Kong trying to control the position from guard on top but Mathers is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Mathers working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kong doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kong manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Kong drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kong jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mathers throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kong sees it coming and avoids it easily. Mathers throws a nice looking combination but Kong bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Mathers throws a looping overhand right but Kong ducks down to avoid it. Karl Mathers is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Mathers looks to throw the jab but Kong is out of range. Kong lands a lovely overhand right. Mathers looks to land a right hand but Kong moved out of range. Mathers swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Kong tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kong has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Kong working the strikes but Mathers uses the opportunity to regain half guard.

Well, if Kong is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Mathers is pressing down on Kong's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Kong works a leg free and moves into half guard. Mathers slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mathers is on top in guard.
Karl Mathers has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Mathers drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Kong manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Mathers has Kong in his guard. Mathers is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Karl Mathers. Well Kong has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
