Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Pauling (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mat Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Daniel Pauling looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Daniel Pauling!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mat Santos!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, John Mangel and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santos tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pauling swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Pauling looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Santos cracks Pauling with a good jab.
It looks like Daniel Pauling has been cut.
Pauling doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Santos closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Pauling to the mat! Pauling manages to get full guard.
Santos postures up and lands a big shot to Pauling's brow.
Santos forces his way into half guard.
Santos is looking to advance position but Pauling won't allow it.
Santos is looking for a kimura but Pauling is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Santos to get the leverage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Santos decides to stand and escape the position.
Santos shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Pauling's guard.
Santos passes Pauling's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Santos wants to pass the guard but Pauling is defending well.
Pauling is pressing down on Santos's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Pauling closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pauling lands in his opponent's guard.

Santos bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pauling's guard.

and Pauling makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Pauling throws a low kick but it's checked well by Santos.
Santos shoots in and bounces Pauling off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Santos decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Santos swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Pauling fails with an attempt to clinch.
Nice takedown defense from Pauling. No joy for Santos on that attempt.
Pauling misses with a few strikes there.

Santos will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Daniel Pauling has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mat Santos.
Pauling darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Santos looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Santos is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Pauling!
Santos working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Pauling turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Santos off and cradles Pauling's limp body as Santos celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Mat Santos!
