Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mehk Daniel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Galvao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Galvao has chosen Uh Papai Chego as his entrance music. Daniel Galvao looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mehk Daniel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Daniel Galvao!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Paulo Santos and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Galvao misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Daniel fails with an attempt to clinch.
Daniel stuffs the takedown.
Galvao closes the distance and clinches up with Daniel, looking for a takedown. Galvao pushes Daniel against the cage but Daniel circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Mehk Daniel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daniel Galvao.

Daniel drives through with a takedown into guard.
Galvao is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Galvao is looking for a triangle but Daniel pushes his legs off easily.
Daniel will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Daniel's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Daniel wants to pass the guard but Galvao is keeping the position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Daniel slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Mehk Daniel.

Daniel shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Daniel showed some decent athleticism there.
Daniel working over Galvao with some ground and pound. Galvao looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Galvao is trying to get back to full guard.
Daniel looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Galvao with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Daniel wants to stand but Galvao has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Galvao wants to get back to full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Daniel perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Daniel decides to stand up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mehk Daniel dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Daniel moves into range and clinches up with Galvao.
Galvao tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Daniel just stands there and leans against the cage.

Galvao tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Mehk Daniel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daniel Galvao.

Daniel is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Galvao defends well.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Daniel misses with an attempted mid kick.
Daniel dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Daniel is looking to clinch but Galvao is avoiding it.
No joy there for Daniel, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Daniel wants to stand up but Galvao has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Daniel stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Daniel throws a sloppy head kick and Galvao moves out of range easily.

Galvao fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Daniel sprawls well initially but Galvao persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Galvao is stalling here. Daniel is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Galvao seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Daniel has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Galvao gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Daniel takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Daniel throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Galvao because Daniel loaded up on that one.
Daniel really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Galvao can't escape the position.

Daniel stands up from mount. Strange move.
Daniel attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Galvao avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mehk Daniel dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


A head kick from Daniel lands but Galvao takes it in his stride.

Galvao works to advance to full mount. Daniel defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Mehk Daniel overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Daniel tries to lock up and control but Galvao gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Galvao controlling the pace for now.

Daniel is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Galvao wants to control the pace but Daniel is squirming around nicely.

Galvao jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Daniel is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Daniel and Galvao has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Daniel is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Galvao swings around for an armbar but Daniel sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Galvao's guard.
Galvao has a closed guard, preventing Daniel from standing up.
Galvao manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Daniel manages to get himself to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Daniel has his foot on Galvao's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Galvao works his way back into a safe position though.

Daniel has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Daniel has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Galvao can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Daniel is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Daniel striking off his back but it's not causing Galvao any problems.
Daniel is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Galvao is controlling him.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Daniel gets the takedown into side control.
You can see the frustration on Galvao's face as Daniel controls the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Daniel Galvao.
Well Daniel has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
