Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bruno Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hugo Oliveira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hugo Oliveira will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bruno Alves! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hugo Oliveira! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Edson Gomes and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alves tries for a takedown but Oliveira sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Oliveira looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Alves shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Oliveira is trying to defend but Alves finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Alves decides to return to a standing position. Alves tries to clinch but Oliveira moves out of range. Alves clinches up with Oliveira and pushes him back against the cage. Alves escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Alves scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Alves lands a nice short elbow. Alves controlling the action here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alves has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Alves seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Oliveira for as long as he can get away with. Alves stands up from half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Alves moves into the clinch. Alves breaks from the clinch.
Alves scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Alves is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alves works his way into side control. Oliveira is letting Alves control him for a moment.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Bruno Alves. Alves shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Oliveira's guard. Oliveira looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Oliveira has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Alves has passed into side control.
Oliveira wants to control but Alves postures up. Alves decides to stand back up. Alves steps back and let's Oliveira get back to his feet. Alves tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Oliveira swivels and escapes. Alves drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Oliveira has an active guard here but Alves has managed to pass into half guard.
Oliveira makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Oliveira. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Oliveira is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Alves gets the takedown into side control. Oliveira is looking to regain half guard here but Alves keeps moving and retains side control. Oliveira can't do much from the bottom here. Alves is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Oliveira will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Oliveira is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Alves has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Oliveira!
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Alves fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Alves content just to control the position here. Alves has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Oliveira's face.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alves lands a big shot there that rocks Oliveira but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Oliveira in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Alves landing strikes, looking to finish! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Alves controlling his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bruno Alves dominated that second round. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!
Alves darts in and clinches Oliveira up against the cage. Oliveira keeps control of Alves as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Oliveira putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Alves in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. Alves unloads a knee to the mid-section. Alves's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Alves gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Alves breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Oliveira stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Oliveira wants it to stay on the feet. Alves wants to clinch but Oliveira slips to the side and Oliveira counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Alves kicks off Oliveira and gets to his feet. Alves shoots in but Oliveira avoids the takedown attempt easily. No luck for Alves with that takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bruno Alves. That's going to take a lot out of him. Oliveira misses with a takedown attempt and Alves counters with a good, hard body kick but Oliveira shrugs it off. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Oliveira shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Alves counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Bruno Alves overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Alves performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Oliveira is looking to escape. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Alves in particular looking to stall. Alves thows a huge punch but Oliveira dodges it nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Oliveira wants to improve his position but Alves is controlling well.
Oliveira wants to sweep but Alves has passed to side control! Alves tries for a kimura but Oliveira is defending well. Oliveira is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Oliveira is trying to get back to full guard. Alves content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Oliveira is looking to improve his position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Alves controlling the action here. Alves stops Oliveira from getting back to his feet.
Hugo Oliveira has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Bruno Alves is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Alves in particular looking to stall.
And that's the end of the fight! Bruno Alves showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Alves, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
