PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Thiago Almer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Freddy Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alves has chosen Trik Turner - Friends and Family as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Felipe Paraventi and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Almer as Alves shoots in.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Almer feints and then cracks Alves's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Alves down.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Alves shoots in for a takedown but Almer shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Almer is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Alves lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Almer circles away quickly and effectively.

Alves changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Almer tries to avoid it but Alves manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Almer to the ground. Almer escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Alves throws and elbow that misses. Almer uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Alves's guard. Nice move by Almer!

Alves might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Almer kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Alves shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Alves was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Almer is bucking up trying to escape but Alves cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Freddy Alves comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Alves has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
