Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jimmy Wu! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jacco Coco! The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Coco fails with a takedown attempt. Coco throws a right hand that Wu ducks under and follows up with a left that Wu also avoids with ease. Wu feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Coco's calf. Coco shoots in but Wu avoids the takedown attempt easily. Coco thows a leg kick but Wu checks it and Wu counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Coco misses with a takedown attempt and Wu counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Jimmy Wu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jacco Coco. A lazy body kick from Coco and Wu holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Wu lands with a short shot to the head. Wu lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Coco fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Coco taking a breather. Coco jumps guard but Wu stands there with Coco around his waist. Coco gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Nice body punch from Wu - that landed with a thud.
Wu breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Coco walks into a straight right hand from Wu. Coco looks gassed! Coco takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Coco clinches but Wu breaks the clinch and Wu counters into the clinch. Nicely done. A short right from Wu on the inside. Wu's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Coco closes the distance but Wu moves to the side and Wu counters with a nice low kick that buckles Coco's knee momentarily. Coco walks into a jab. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Coco gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Wu counters with an inside leg kick. Wu catches Coco with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Wu connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Coco momentarily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wu darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Coco takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Coco takes a shot right to the bread basket. Wu scores with a leg kick.
Wu is really peppering his opponent's head with punches. A nice combination there by Wu.
Wu cracks Coco with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Coco tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Wu pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Coco is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jimmy Wu!
