Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kenny Gripp!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fletch Chaser!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Seu Braga and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gripp shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Gripp was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Chaser is trying to stand up here but Gripp is controlling him well.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Gripp fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Chaser manages to avoid it.
Chaser stuffs the takedown.
Chaser tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gripp paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Chaser connects with the punch.
Chaser lands a nice leg kick that just misses Gripp's sensitive parts.
Gripp shoots in looking for a takedown. Chaser tries to sprawl out of it but Gripp keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Chaser manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Gripp tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Chaser shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Chaser showed some decent athleticism there.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Chaser decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Gripp wants to get back to full guard.
Chaser wants to take a breather but Gripp is having none of it.
Chaser uses his free foot to push down on Gripp's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Gripp.

Chaser has hold of Gripp's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Gripp manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Still in the clinch, Chaser scores with a nice short uppercut.

A frustrated look appears on Gripp's face as he tries to break the clinch.

and Chaser counters with a right hand to the body.

Chaser feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Gripp's calf.
Chaser lunges at Gripp with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Gripp's hand.
Kenny Gripp seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Chaser cracks the inside of Gripp's front leg.
Chaser shoots in for a double leg but Gripp sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

and Chaser makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Chaser lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Chaser gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Chaser is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Gripp makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Gripp.
Chaser won't allow Gripp to sweep him here.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Chaser accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Chaser trying to control but Gripp is working from the bottom.
Gripp is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Chaser fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

and Chaser counters with a nice low kick that buckles Gripp's knee momentarily.
Gripp shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Chaser connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Chaser lands a nice looking body shot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Fletch Chaser will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Chaser has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Gripp defend it? Chaser steps over the head and cranks it - Gripp is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Chaser!
