Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Chun Rhialto! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rumina Sato! The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Vladimir Khabensky and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rhialto drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rhialto is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Sato knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Sato tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Rhialto wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Rhialto tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Rhialto is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Sato has escaped the position, nice work there. Rhialto looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Sato sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Rhialto is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Sato looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sato moves into full guard.
Sato escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rhialto gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Sato is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Rhialto tries to free his leg and advance position but Sato is retaining full guard. Rhialto trying to control but Sato is working from the bottom. Rhialto pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Sato is keeping the position for now. Sato had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rhialto defends it easily. Sato working for a triangle but Rhialto defends it easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rhialto is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Sato is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Sato has escaped and now he's on top! Rhialto wants to sweep but no luck. Sato drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Sato seems to have locked his on tight now - Rhialto screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Sato, as he picks up the win!
