Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, William Head! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jackson Hawthorn! The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Patrick Alders and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Head feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Hawthorn keeping moving, preventing Head from controlling successfully. Hawthorn being controlled here, momentarily. Head stands up from guard. Let's bang! Head drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Head is looking to stand up but Hawthorn won't let him. Head sitting in guard here, content to control. Hawthorn bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Head's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hawthorn trying to control the position from guard on top but Head is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hawthorn working some strikes from top position. Hawthorn works over Head with some ground and pound from guard. Head preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Head wants to get back to his feet but Hawthorn is in a dominant position and won't allow it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hawthorn distracts Head with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Hawthorn loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Head is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hawthorn is controlling him. Head striking from his own guard. Hawthorn chips away with some ground and pound. Hawthorn must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Head is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Hawthorn postures up in Head's guard and throws a big left but Head blocks it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Head pulls Hawthorn in to control the position. Head wants to stand but Hawthorn is controlling the position. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Head keeping moving, preventing Hawthorn from controlling successfully. Head manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's three minutes gone in the round. Head scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Hawthorn?
Head tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Hawthorn wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Head.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The referee warns Hawthorn that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Head controlling his opponent. Head jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Hawthorn is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Hawthorn and Head has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Head is looking to take a break and control but Hawthorn is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
William Head dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Hawthorn misses with a takedown attempt and Head counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Head. Hawthorn controlling the position. Head is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Head seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Hawthorn for as long as he can get away with. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Head working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Head with a flurry of punches that miss. Hawthorn keeping moving, preventing Head from controlling successfully. Hawthorn can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Head controls the pace.
We're going to have a standup here because William Head wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Hawthorn misses with a takedown and Head makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Hawthorn is breathing heavily. Head shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Hawthorn's guard. Hawthorn is working an open guard so Head takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. A nice inside leg kick there by Head. That's going to slow Hawthorn down. Head lands a big head kick that sends Hawthorn tumbling to the mat! Head takes a step backwards and waves Hawthorn back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Hawthorn is rocked!
It looks like Jackson Hawthorn has been cut. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Head gets a clinch. Hawthorn is still on wobbly legs! Can Head finish him? Head has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Hawthorn uses from the top position.

Head working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hawthorn doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Head is tightening it up a little... Hawthorn has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Hawthorn reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Hawthorn taps out! nice BJJ there by Head!
