PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Muay Thai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Don Wilson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Don Wilson was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Muay Thai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Don Wilson!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Emerson Jorge and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Thai moves into range and clinches up with Wilson.

Thai breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Thai misses with a few strikes there.
Muay Thai seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wilson shoots in looking for a takedown. Thai tries to sprawl out of it but Wilson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Thai manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Thai pushes Wilson up against the cage in a clinch.
Wilson tries to land knees in the clinch but Thai avoids the damage to the body.
Thai tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Wilson avoids it.
Thai is trying to force a seperation but Wilson has the dominant position.
Wilson drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Muay Thai has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Don Wilson.
Thai throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Wilson blocks it with crossed arms.
Thai scores with a knee to the head.
Wilson drops down looking for an ankle pick but Thai pulls his leg out and moves away.

Thai fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Wilson, pushing him back against the cage.
Wilson wants a takedown but no success here.
Thai tries to land knees in the clinch but Wilson avoids the damage to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Thai is pressed up against the cage. Wilson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Thai down to the mat. Thai avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Thai swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Thai gets a clinch.
Thai on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Thai trying to land knees to the body.
Thai using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Wilson has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Wilson misses with a knee to the head.

Wilson decides to pull guard.

Thai decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Wilson, up you get!
Wilson tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Thai counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Wilson is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Thai pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Thai slaps away a takedown attempt from Wilson, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Thai is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Wilson is controlling him.
Thai keeping moving, preventing Wilson from controlling successfully.

Thai is looking to stand up but Wilson isn't so interested in that idea.
Wilson trying to control the position from guard on top but Thai is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Thai manages to escape and get back to his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Wilson throws a lazy head kick
and Thai counters with a nice body kick.
Thai throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Wilson.
Wilson pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Thai has managed to clinch.

Thai breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Wilson wants to clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wilson with a poor takedown
and Thai counters with a good low kick that Wilson was not able to check.
Wilson looks gassed!
Wilson darts in trying to clinch
and Thai counters with a stiff right hand.
Wilson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Thai pinned against the cage. Thai gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Thai circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Wilson drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Thai follows Wilson to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Muay Thai!
