Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nick Vass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mickey Yang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nick Vass!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mickey Yang!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Donatello Bradman and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vass throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Yang was covering up waiting for the punch and Vass finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Yang is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Vass controlling from the top position.

Vass gets to his feet - Yang follows without any prompting.
Yang is looking to score with low kicks.
Vass looks to land a combination but Yang avoids it well.

Yang tries to sprawl but Vass drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Yang wants to get back to his feet.
Vass wants to lay and pray for a moment but Yang keeps working.
Vass content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Vass decides to stand and escape the position.

Vass manages to pull guard.

Vass has his feet on Yang's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Yang throws a leg kick which misses Vass's front leg but catches the back leg as Vass tries to avoid it.
Vass shoots in for a takedown but Yang shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Yang misses with a low kick.
Yang throws a right and a left that Vass avoids nicely.
Vass sizes up Yang with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Vass gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Vass has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Yang would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Vass is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Yang wants to stand and escape but Vass is having none of it.

Vass stands and steps away. Yang gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Vass can't break the clinch.
Vass tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Yang smiles and moves away.

Vass drives through with a takedown into guard.

Yang is looking to stand up but Vass isn't so interested in that idea.
Vass engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Vass stops Yang from standing up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Vass is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Vass gets to his feet - Yang follows without any prompting.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yang misses with a low kick.

Yang goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Vass plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Vass throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Yang's waist but Yang gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Vass off to one side.
Vass on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Yang. Yang obviously looking to wear him down.
Nice takedown defense from Yang. No joy for Vass on that attempt.

Vass changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Yang looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Vass wants to control but Yang is keeping him busy.

Vass stands up.
Yang misses with a low kick.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Vass misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nick Vass. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Vass drives through and clinches with Yang against the cage.

Vass has Yang pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Yang manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Yang can do anything to dispel that myth.

Yang is looking to escape.
Vass not doing much here.
Yang is trying to stand.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Vass is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Vass is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Yang tries to kick Vass off but Vass keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Yang is trying to stand back up but Vass is controlling him

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Vass in particular looking to stall.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Vass checks a leg kick.
Yang has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Vass.

Vass bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Vass has hold of Yang's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Yang seems comfortable defending it but Vass has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Yang is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Yang is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Vass couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:08 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Nick Vass!
