The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sarm looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Sarm tries to score a power double leg takedown but James sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sarm somewhat. James fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Sarm, pushing him back against the cage. Sarm is trying to break the clinch but James has him pressed against the cage. James scores with a shoulder strike. Sarm scores with a hook to the body. Sarm has James pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. James manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for JJ Sarm. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sarm's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Sarm is breathing heavily. Nice body punch from James - that landed with a thud.
Nice elbow from James. Sarm is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. James with a knee to the head.
Sarm takes an elbow to the temple. Sarm jumps guard but James stands there with Sarm around his waist. Sarm gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
