PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Zan Ziuao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and carlo recto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Dillan Fox and Alec Ball.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
recto shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ziuao as he avoids it easily.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Ziuao checks a leg kick.
recto wants to clinch.
recto throws a leg kick but Ziuao moved away.
recto tries to clinch up.
carlo recto seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ziuao stuffs the takedown attempt from recto. recto gets slowly back to his feet.

Ziuao escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. recto gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Ziuao has his foot on recto's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. recto works his way back into a safe position though.
recto stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ziuao swivels though and keeps the full guard.

recto must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Ziuao is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of recto's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take recto's back!

Ziuao is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. recto is defending well though. Ziuao let's go of the attempt for now.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ziuao has hold of recto's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and recto manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
recto is looking to improve his position but Ziuao isn't that keen on the idea.

A close round but carlo recto will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

carlo recto showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Oh but Ziuao is tightening it up a little... recto has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! recto reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! recto taps out! nice BJJ there by Ziuao!
