PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stalin Starksson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Kaner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Starksson might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to War is my destiny. Jon Kaner will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stalin Starksson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jon Kaner!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Alyssa Summers and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Starksson takes a shot right to the bread basket.

Starksson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Kaner has his foot on Starksson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Starksson works his way back into a safe position though.

Starksson drops back looking for a leg! Kaner is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kaner manages to kick Starksson off! Starksson jumps back into Kaner's guard.
Starksson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Kaner lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Starksson!
Kaner trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Starksson is looking to get to half guard.
Starksson tries to improve his position but instead Kaner has taken his back!
Starksson is keeping busy.
Starksson tries to escape but Kaner has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Starksson preventing the rear naked choke attempt from Kaner.
Starksson tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Starksson is breathing heavily.

Kaner tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.
Starksson is in all sorts of trouble here.
Starksson regains half guard.
Kaner is looking to take a break and control but Starksson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Kaner is pressing down on Starksson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Starksson is holding on for now.

Starksson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Kaner pulls his head out easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Kaner tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

Starksson looking for submissions off his back.
Kaner tries to stand and escape but Starksson is controlling the position.

Starksson actively working from the bottom here.
It looks like Kaner is going to stand back up.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Left hook, right uppercut from Kaner.
Kaner works over Starksson's head and body with a nice combination.

Kaner moves into range and clinches up with Starksson.

Kaner escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jon Kaner is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kaner lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kaner looks to land a combination but Starksson avoids it well.
Starksson wants to clinch but Kaner slips to the side
and Kaner counters with a three punch combo that has Starksson backing up. Starksson nods at Kaner to acknowledge the strikes.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Starksson.
Kaner is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Starksson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Starksson has hold of Kaner's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Kaner seems comfortable defending it but Starksson has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Kaner is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Kaner is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Starksson couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Stalin Starksson!
