The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Donelly as Lightning shoots in.
A combination from Donelly does no damage.
Donelly scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

It looks like Dean Lightning has been cut.
Lightning takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Lightning shoots for a double leg takedown but Donelly sprawls well. He's pushed Lightning's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Lightning looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dean Lightning. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Donelly instigates a clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Donelly's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Donelly pulls guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Lightning won't allow Donelly to sweep him here.
Donelly keeping moving, preventing Lightning from controlling successfully.
Donelly wants to improve his position but instead Lightning has moved into half guard.
Lightning tries to pass to full mount but Donelly defends it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Donelly tries to lock up and control but Lightning gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lightning has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Donelly is forced to tap!
