Yardy throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Mason on the side of the head.

Mason throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Yardy was covering up waiting for the punch and Mason finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Mason has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Yardy bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Dan Yardy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mason tries to clinch up but Yardy circles away and keeps his distance.

Mason changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Yardy tries to avoid it but Mason manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Yardy to the ground. Yardy escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Yardy fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Mason sprawls well initially but Yardy persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

It looks like Yardy is going to stand back up.
Mason wants to control but Yardy is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Yardy seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Yardy wants to stand and escape but instead Mason has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Yardy bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Mason's head backwards.

Mason walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Yardy looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Mason misses with a body shot.
Yardy stalks Mason and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Mason's face. Mason staggers backwards, shaken.
Yardy tries to land a leg kick but Mason saw it coming and moves away.
Mason tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Yardy swivels and escapes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Yardy drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Mason gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Mason controls Yardy momentarily but Yardy frees himself.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
