Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Cage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paulo Neruda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cage's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, "Coming Undone" by Korn. Neruda has chosen powermad - nice dreams as his entrance music. 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paulo Neruda! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Robert Twigg and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Neruda fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Neruda throws a head kick but Cage moves out of range.
Cage shoots in and drives through. Neruda sprawls well. Cage tries to clinch up. Neruda attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. A looping hook to the body misses from Neruda. Cage does a little dance to reset his feet. Cage takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Cage wants to clinch up but Neruda keeps it at a distance. No luck with that takedown attempt from Cage. Neruda swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Cage could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Neruda misses with a jab, cross combination.
Neruda shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Neruda jabs at Cage's body. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Neruda scores with a one two! Cage had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Cage is breathing heavily. Neruda stuns Cage with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Neruda digs a good hook to Cage's body.

Cage tries to pull guard but Neruda holds him up against the cage and eventually Cage drops back down to his feet.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Neruda bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Cage's head backwards. A right-left combo lands from Neruda. Neruda fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Neruda connects with a good right hand that stumbles Cage. Cage circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Neruda looks for a takedown but Cage sprawls well. Neruda pushes Cage up against the cage in a clinch. Neruda breaks the clinch.

Neruda lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Neruda. Neruda throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cage's waist but Cage gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Neruda off to one side. Neruda looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Cage is fending him off so far but Neruda persists. Nope, Cage circles away and we're back to standing.

and Neruda makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Neruda lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Cage circles away quickly and effectively. Neruda shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Cage eats them both and turns towards Neruda to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Neruda misses with a head kick.

Cage shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Neruda napping and manages to drive through into side control! Neruda is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Cage wants to control but Neruda is keeping him busy. Neruda really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cage. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neruda is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Cage asserts his dominance and retains side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Neruda lands with a hook. Cage tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Neruda shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Cage shoots for a double leg takedown but Neruda sprawls well. He's pushed Cage's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Cage shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Neruda pinned against the cage. Neruda gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Neruda has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Neruda shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. A combination from Cage does no damage. A big head kick from Neruda and Cage is sent sprawling to the canvas!

Neruda content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Neruda works over Cage with some ground and pound from guard. Neruda makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Neruda lands a couple of elbows. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Neruda throwing strikes but missing. Neruda postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. It's preventing any offense from Neruda, at least for the moment. Neruda has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Cage is proving hard to escape from. Neruda missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Neruda throws a big right hand that misses. Neruda scoring with punches to the head and body. Neruda is working Cage over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Cage controlling the position. Neruda works over Cage with some ground and pound from guard. Neruda must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Cage wants to sweep but no luck. Neruda would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Neruda missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Neruda postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Neruda landing with the ground and pound. Cage is pulling down on Neruda's head. It's preventing any offense from Neruda, at least for the moment. Cage might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Cage is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Neruda is trying to get back to full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

And that's the end of the fight! Paulo Neruda comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Neruda has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
